Agents Bust Woman Attempting to Cross Texas Border With Heroin Worth $1.5M

A woman was recently bused by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers after allegedly attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas with $1.5 million worth of heroin.
The incident occurred Monday at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge in Texas, which is within the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry, the CBP said in a press release. CBP officers assigned to the bridge encountered a woman, who was identified only as a U.S. citizen from Edinburg, Texas, trying to cross the border from Mexico into the U.S. The woman was driving a Volkswagen Jetta.

HIDALGO, Texas US Customs and Border Protection (CDP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrested an 18-year-old woman from Edinburg, Texas after detecting alleged methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle she was driving valued at $1,297,000.
“Young people getting involved in illicit activities such as these must realize that there are consequences that could possibly impact the rest of your life,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas. “CBP highly encourages everyone not to fall prey to these smuggling organizations who promise quick financial gains on their behalf.”

Back in April, another 18-year-old woman was arrested at a US-Mexico border checkpoint after officers with the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) discovered she was transporting more than $50,000 worth of methamphetamine into the US.
The CBP on Monday announced that officers with the Office of Field Operations at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrested an 18-year-old female resident of Edinburg, Texas, after locating 24 packages of methamphetamine in her vehicle s tires.
The arrest, which occurred on May 9, took place after the US woman attempted to cross back into the country from Mexico. Using a non-intrusive imaging examination, agents inspecting her 2016 Ford Fusion located some 64.86 pounds (29.42 kilograms) of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
