Kundapur: Late night raid - Huge stock of ration items seized

Kundapur, Jan 2: The food inspector and police personnel, in a raid they conducted at Koteshwar near here during the late night hours on Friday January 1, seized ration rice amounting to lacs of rupees that had been illegally stored for being sold in the open market.
During the preliminary investigation, it was found that Uday Kumar Shetty from Koteshwar, Ajam from Mangaluru and Rama Poojary from Udupi were the accused in the case. The accused have gone underground and the police have been making efforts to nab them.

| Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT Officials of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies and the police in Kundapura, Udupi district, have unearthed another racket involving the purchase of rice from ration card-holders and their resale in the open market. They have arrested one person in this connection and are searching for two more accused, who are absconding.
The arrested man has been identified as Azam of Mangaluru, while the two who are absconding are Uday Kumar Shetty of Koteshwara and Rama Poojari of Udupi.
