FRANCONIA â Franconia Township Community Park was evacuated and remained closed for more than an hour after an officer encountered a female in a vehicle in the park about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, Franconia Township Police Department said. It was immediately apparent that the female was armed and in crisis, the department said in a release.
Additional officers responded to the scene, evacuated the park and secured the area, police said. Allentown Road was closed between Harleysville Pike (Route 113) and Indian Creek Road with the assistance of Telford Fire Police and the Franconia Township Public Works Department, police said.
About 25 minutes later, the female sustained a self-inflicted, non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

The Drug Take Back Day, organized by the Montgomery County District Attorneyâs Office and the Police Chiefs Association of Montgomery County, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 24 at participating police departments and five grocery stores.

LOWER SALFORDÂ â Route 113 (Harleysville Pike) motorists will encounter a lane closure and periodic lane shift between Route 63 (Main Street) and Gruber Road in Lower Salford, beginning Monday, Feb. 1, for construction activities under a local sidewalk improvement project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
The lane closure and periodic lane shift will be in place weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through mid-April.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the construction area because backups and slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The local municipal project consists of sidewalk installation, ADA ramp construction, pavement markings, guiderail installation and other miscellaneous enhancements.
