Tammy Moran: Ex-Christian Academy employee facing new sex crime charge

Editor s note: This story has been updated to correct the dates that a second student boarded in the Moran home. The dates were wrong in the news release issued by the alleged victim s attorney. LILLINGTON A former employee at an Erwin private school accused of molesting a student was charged this week with a crime involving a second student as well as embezzlement from the school, an official said. Tammy Tyner Moran, 45, was booked and released from the Harnett County jail Monday on one count of embezzlement, and an additional count of sexual activity with a student.  The latest sex crime charge arose after a second Cape Fear Christian Academy student came forward with allegations he had sexual intercourse with Moran between Feb. 19, 2020, and Feb. 23, 2020, according to the warrant.

Harnett County jailer allegedly allows inmate to facetime, take photos

LILLINGTON A Harnett County jail employee was arrested Thursday morning after photos he allegedly took as a favor to inmates were circulated on social media, according to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office.  Terrell Jackson, 29, of Fayetteville, is charged with felony providing a phone to an inmate and misdemeanor willful failure to discharge duties.  He was booked into jail at 9 a.m. Thursday and released on $500 bail, according to a Sheriff s Office news release.  The issue came to light on Saturday when the Sheriff’s Office learned photos of inmates posing inside the Lillington jail were shared on social media, the release said. A screenshot was also shared of an inmate in the midst of a video call with someone outside the jail, according to the release. 

Body found in Harnett County fire identified as property owner

LILLINGTON  A body found inside the wreckage of outbuilding in Cameron following a fire there last week has been identified as 76-year-old Arthur Noga Jr., an official said Thursday. Noga s remains were found about 6 p.m. April 20 in an outbuilding on his property at 130 Harman Lane, according to the Harnett County Sheriff s Office.  Foul play is not suspected, a news release said. Sanford and Fayetteville man arrested in fatal shooting of 15 year old

Two area men were arrested Sunday in Rhode Island in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy last week in Spring Lake. Tommy Jackson, 23, of Sanford, and Jesse Richardson, 26, of Fayetteville, are each charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The men stand accused in the 2:02 a.m. fatal shooting in the Cimarron Mobile Home park on April 12 off N.C. 210, north of Ray Road.  They were arrested in Middletown, Rhode Island, after an officer there spotted the vehicle they were in and ran the license plate about 10:30 a.m., Middletown police officials said in a news release. At that time, the plate came back clear, officials said. 

Erwin man found dead with gunshot wounds in a car, police investigate

ERWIN A man was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the driver s seat of a car that struck a house Monday morning in Erwin, a news release said. Harnett County Sheriff s deputies were called about 12:30 a.m. to the house at 4404 Beaver Dam Road in Erwin. When they arrived on the scene, they found Kenneth Dale Wilkins, 53, of Byrds Mill Road, dead in the driver s seat. Officer say Wilkins was apparently shot while inside of the vehicle.
