Name droppers: Harvath named new president of gerontological society

Terri Harvath, of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis, is the new president of The Gerontological Society of America the nation’s largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to the field of aging. She was elected by GSA’s membership, which consists of more than 5,500 researchers, educators, practitioners and other professionals. Harvath was installed earlier this month.
“We’re proud to have one of our own leading this prestigious national organization focused on the growing older-adult population,” said UC Davis Health CEO David Lubarsky. “Her expertise is well suited to lead national aging efforts and her spirit of collaboration will benefit the work we’re doing at UC Davis Health and share what we’re doing with others around the nation.”

WEST HARTFORD, CT The snowstorm forecast to run from Wednesday into Thursday has prompted several advisories in West Hartford.
Parking
A parking ban is in effect until 8 a.m. Friday. During a Parking Ban no on-street parking is allowed so that Public Works crews can remove snow from curb-to-curb. Cars left on the road could result in a fine and the car may be towed.

Off-Street Parking
Off-street neighborhood municipal lots are open. Pay-to-park fees will apply at municipal center parking lots and parking garages. Cars in a free municipal or school lot, must be removed by 8 a.m. Friday. Vehicles left in the lot after noon will be towed.
