Officials respond to two-alarm fire in Hartford

HARTFORD Officials responded to a two-alarm fire in Hartford Sunday, according to the fire department.
The fire which was in the area of the Franklin Avenue and Shultas Place intersection had been “knocked down” by 5:12 p.m., according to a social media post from the Hartford Fire Department. But at the time of the post Sunday evening, firefighters were “still operating, performing salvage and overhaul.
“No civilian or firefighter injuries reported at this time,” the post read.
The fire marshal’s office is investigating the blaze.
Additionally, the “Special Services Unit will be working with the American Red Cross to assist any families that may be displaced,” the post read.

AUGUSTA City Manager William “Bill” Bridgeo has announced his retirement, after 23 years as Augusta’s manager and 43 years in municipal management.
The 71-year-old Maine native said he still loves his job, but the time is right for someone new to take on the job and for him to join his wife, Janice, who retired six months ago after two decades as an elementary school teacher in Winthrop.

Augusta Civic Center could be mass vaccination site
City officials are in talks with state and MaineGeneral officials about using the Augusta Civic Center as the site of public COVID-19 vaccination clinics, but no agreement has been reached to move forward.

City officials have noted the facility can easily accommodate both uses.
