A car crashed into a barrier at the weekend, in an area described as being blighted by anti-social behaviour. The smash happened on the of Harrowby Street and Sutherland Street, directly opposite a petrol station, with numerous car parts and debris left scattered around the area. Resident Paula Wallen said that people had been walking past the spot just moments before the crash, which occurred shortly before 10pm on Saturday, April 17.

BOLTON: Road improvement scheme given extended timeline after underspend

Roadowrks DOZENS of road and footpath repairs in residential areas are set to go ahead after previous works were finished with budget to spare. A £12m programme to combat deterioration of residential roads was approved by the Bolton Council’s cabinet in September 2019. Each of the borough’s 20 council wards was allocated £600,000 to spend on repairs and improvements. The programme began in October 2019 and since then more than 250 improvements to roads and footpaths have taken place across the borough. More than 19 miles of road has already been resurfaced and more than five miles of footpaths repaired. The Highways Investment Programme was financed through a £7m loan funded by dividends from shares in Manchester Airport, together with £3m income received from capital receipts from the sale of council buildings.

Hannah Thomas, of Harrowby Street, Farnworth, noticed her baby daughter Luna Ellora became ill in March last year. Bolton Coroner s Court heard evidence that on March 24 Luna had a cough, she had gone off her food, she began sticking her tongue out and her mum described her as dazed . Over the next couple of days Hannah gave Luna some Calpol but her cough became continuous and she struggled with her breathing. And in the early hours of March 26, she took her daughter s temperature and it was high at 38.3 degrees celcius.

Motorist with no licence admits guilt after causing serious injury

Junction of Harrowby Street and Albert Road A DRIVER is to be sentenced after he admitted seriously injuring a man in a collision in Farnworth. Alfeteh Mustafa appeared in the dock at Bolton Crown Court and, speaking through an interpreter, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for others and causing grievous bodily harm to Peter Taylor. He also admitted having no licence or insurance for the Audi he was driving. The court heard that the careless driving occurred on May 6 on Albert Road and Harrowby Street, Farnworth. Sudanese-born Mustafa, aged 24, of Wellington Street, Farnworth, was granted bail and reports about him will be prepared before he is sentenced on February 16.
