It’s against Harrisburg’s rules to save shoveled spots, but that doesn’t stop some

Harrisburg residents who shovel out snow for a parking spot near their home often have placed chairs, cones, or trash cans in the cleared area to “reserve” the space for when they return later.
It’s been going on for many years in the city, and other municipalities where residential parking spaces can be hard to find.
But last week, Harrisburg police reminded residents they could be cited for “saving spaces” in the street because it’s against city ordinance.
Specifically, the ordinance says:
