Breaking Bond: Harris County Sheriff the latest top law enforcement official to condemn multiple felony bonds
Harris Co. sheriff asking judges to stop releasing offenders
FOX 26 s Randy Wallace spoke with the Harris County Sheriff who is joining others asking court judges to stop releasing violent offenders.
HOUSTON - We need to fix a broken bond system because it simply isn’t working, said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
The sheriff has no say when it comes to who can bond out of jail. That decision is solely made by Harris County Criminal District Court Judges. People who should be out sometimes stay in jail and people who aren’t supposed to be out are out there continuing to re-offend, Gonzalez said.
