6 hours ago in Local Photo: Saga Communications 5/12/21 Harrisonburg City Council voted unanimously last night to keep the real estate tax rate at 86 cents per $100 of assessed value. However, residents will still have to dig deeper because, as City Attorney Chris Brown explains, property value assessments increased nearly three percent across the city. Meanwhile, City Council will also send a notice to advertise for another public hearing at its next meeting on May 25th to increase the real estate tax rate four cents to 90 cents per 100 dollars of assessed value.
