A 17-year-old faces serious charges after police say he threatened and attacked several people with a knife.
The Clare County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Yats of Harrison Friday evening after deputies were called out to Oak Flats Road in Hayes Township.
Police say they found Yats armed with a knife, trying to confront several people in a vehicle. Deputies say Yats had gotten into an argument, grabbed a knife, assaulted and threatened several people and broke out a car window.
Yats is charged with eight counts of assault with a dangerous weapon as well as property destruction.

Trinity Hillel remembers Kristallnacht
The Trinity College Hillel Student Leadership Council recently hosted speaker Holocaust survivor Ruth Weiner, who shared her personal story of life in Vienna as a young Jewish girl and spoke of the persecution and extermination of Jews at the hands of Nazis at “Living Through Kristallnacht,” a Nov. 12 virtual event hosted by the Trinity College Hillel Student Leadership Council and organized by Trinity Hillel member Harrison Silver (’22) to mark the 82nd anniversary of Kristallnact. During her talk, Weiner encouraged the audience to think about the significance of Kristallnacht today.
