Steubenville Catholic Teacher Charged Cadiz, OH The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Steubenville Catholic Central High School teacher in Cadiz on Friday morning. Reports state that 21-year-old Corissa McCalister has been charged with two counts of sexual battery that involved a minor student-athlete. Harrison County Sheriff, Joe Myers, stated in a press release that the main incident occurred on March 30 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds after McCalister drove a 15-year-old male student home from a track meet. According to school Principal, Thomas Costello, McCalister is a cross country coach and assistant track coach for the school and she has been placed on administrative leave.

Staff Writer CADIZ For the third consecutive year, the Harrison County Courthouse will be illuminated with blue lights to show support for local law enforcement. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department has participated in the statewide “Light Ohio Blue” campaign since 2019. The program honors law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty as well as those currently serving and encourages local residents and businesses to show their support for law enforcement personnel by placing blue lights around the exterior of their homes and businesses. Sheriff Ronald “Joe” Myers requested the Harrison County Board of Commissioners’ support for this year’s campaign during Wednesday’s regularly scheduled meeting.

A Marshall man charged with capital murder in connection with the death of an East Texas pastor entered a plea of not guilty on Monday during his first court appearance. Mytrez Deunte Woolen, 21, is accused of shooting Pastor Mark McWilliams to death and injuring two others on Jan. 3 at Starrville Methodist Church in Winona.  On Monday, Woolen, his lawyers and Smith County District Attorney Jacob Putman participated in an arraignment hearing over Zoom in the 7th District Court. 

OSHP probes fatal crash | News, Sports, Jobs

Apr 17, 2021 HOPEDALE The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred around 9 p.m. on Harrison County Road 5 near Township Road 59 in Green Township. According to OSHP reports, Michael G. Tolar, 33, was operating a silver 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan eastbound on Harrison County Road 5 when attempting to follow a left curve of the roadway. The vehicle drove off the right edge of the road and struck a guardrail causing it to overturn down an embankment. As the vehicle rolled, Tolar was ejected, causing fatal injuries. An unknown female passenger in the vehicle was initially transported to Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, West Virginia and subsequently life flighted to Allegheny General Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. The female passenger’s condition is unknown at this time.
