Stanley Black & Decker Backs Injection Molding/3D Printing Combination
To help large manufacturers more easily produce rubbers and silicones for custom and on-demand products, Stanley Black & Decker partners with Structure3d to develop the Inj3ctor additive manufacturing platform.

Developed for the purpose of replacing short run or manual processes that currently exist in industrial injection molding, the Inj3ctor from Structur3d is reportedly the first additive manufacturing system to combine the principles of injection molding with 3D printing.
According to Structur3d, the Inj3ctor uses curated material cartridges to mix and inject 2-component flexible materials into any customizable shape, enabling turnkey, small-batch manufacturing of rubber materials.

Lob raises $50M for its direct mail platform
Lob is a startup promising to help businesses deliver physical mail more quickly and affordably, and with more personalization.
The company estimates that its platform has been used to deliver mail to one in two U.S. households. And today, it’s announcing that it has raised $50 million in Series C funding.
CEO Leore Avidar told me he founded Lob with Harry Zhang nearly a decade ago to “allow people to send mail programmatically.” Over time, the company has become increasingly focused on enterprise clients its 8,500-plus customers include Twitter, Expedia and Booking.com although Avidar said it will always offer a product for small businesses as well.

First Place goes to Wei Wu & Zhenyu Yang. “Oracle is a story about existence. We envisage a prosperous future world of energy and material, where people no longer need to engage in any productive labor, where productivity is completely liberated. The institutionalized social structure completely ceases to exist, and each individual is no longer restricted by the site and gains complete freedom. What people s life state would be like under this premise? Are there other purposes that drive us to live meaningfully in the absence of work, consumption, and other regular social activities? Since these questions are so grand and ultimate, we simply describe one particular situation in our narrative - a story of love, faith, and dreams, a story that seems like it will happen in the distant future, but in fact is not too far away from any of us.”
The Water Research Foundation Issues Requests For Proposals For Projects On Stormwater And Biological Nutrient Removal
The Water Research Foundation (WRF) has released Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for two projects funded through WRF’s Research Priority Program. This strategic program enables WRF to address broadly relevant subscriber issues, challenges, and opportunities with targeted research that lasts three to five years. The project details are as follows:
This project will develop a guidebook with comparison case studies to advance the quantification and monetization of benefits and co-benefits of green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) at the community level. The project team will synthesize comparison case studies that have used a rigorous analysis framework for quantifying the benefits and co-benefits of GSI at a national scale, including those from two existing WRF projects. The project will advance the practice of benefits and co-benefits quantification by identifying an
