Not small as in petty. Small as in the boll weevil.
Yes, that’s right: the quarter-inch, crawly, leaf-eating boll weevil.
I learned this from Susan Spencer-Wendel, my longtime colleague at The Palm Beach Post, who told me, in one of our last face-to-face conversations: “A boll weevil landed on my arm today. I watched him all day. It was fascinating.”
Keep in mind that Susan could not swat the boll weevil off her arm, nor could she move her arms, or her legs, or just about anything except her laser blue eyes.
“When is the last time you noticed a boll weevil?”

7 Movies To Watch On Netflix On New Year s Eve
12/31/20 AT 12:01 PM
Staying in for New Year’s Eve? It’s probably the best choice for ringing in 2021, and Netflix has plenty to keep you entertained. These movies have memorable New Year’s Eve scenes, and they’re all available for streaming tonight.
“Holidate” This new addition isn’t the Christmas movie you might expect. Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey’s characters team up to be non-romantic dates through every holiday for an entire year, and their first major outing is a New Year’s Eve party. Surprise, surprise: keeping their relationship platonic isn’t so easy.
This New Year’s Eve, enjoy a simple celebration at home
It’s certainly not too early in the game to be thinking about New Year’s Eve, but it’s not too late to come up with a plan either. With big parties out of the question (really, please don’t) it’s time to celebrate the end of 2020 the way we’ve marked most major occasions this year: at home.
That doesn’t mean you have to pack it in and put yourself to bed before midnight, unless a good night’s sleep is what you’ve been looking forward to all year. That’s a valid choice. Even if the night feels different than New Year’s Eve celebrations of the past, you can still make the evening special and pace yourself without hitting the town.
