Town vs. state fight over Hampton Beach policing costs revived
HAMPTON – The Budget Committee is sending a message to town leaders that taxpayers shouldn’t have to foot the bill to bring in police officers from out of town to help patrol Hampton Beach State Park during the summer.
The committee voted 7-1 to remove $28,000 from the Police Department’s $40,000 budget earmarked for outside police agencies.
“We got state reps. who don’t address it,” said Budget Committee Chairman Brian Warburton on the rising costs taxpayers pay each year to provide town services to the state-owned beach. “We got a state senator not addressing anything. We got management in N.H. who assume we are just going to bail everyone out. We can not keep doing this.”
Class Ring Lost on Hampton Beach Found Its Way Back to Its Owner
Back in mid July 2020 at Hampton Beach, NH, Cyran Willis lost his ring at low tide. It was dark and there was no chance he was going to find it. But this was no ordinary ring! This was his class ring from a prestigious military school called Norwich University.
It is very meaningful to Cyran and not to mention MASSIVE! He was pretty bummed he lost it.
Fast forward a few months to September 15th, 2020. A guy named Brian Knowlton is doing his thing and metal detecting at Hampton Beach State Park Campground. He came upon a loud sounding target. BEEP BEEP BEEP!
