Waterfront development, job creation, downtown improvements proposed in O burg plan

Wednesday, March 10, 2021 - 5:21 pm BY JIMMY LAWTON North Country This Week OGDENSBURG – Deputy Mayor John Rishe with some help from fellow councilors has drafted a 30-page Community Development Plan which he hopes will be reviewed by the planning board and the public in coming months with adoption anticipated this summer. Rishe called for such a plan not long after being elected, but with a focus on cutting costs, preparing such a document is typically a pricey endeavor. Rishe, who serves as an economic developer at the OBPA, decided to take action on his own. The document addresses economic development and job creation, waterfront redevelopment, downtown redevelopment, tourism, housing, historic preservation, recreation, transportation, education, arts and culture, New York State facilities and the tax rate.

WSU testing wastewater for COVID on campus FAIRBORN Wright State University is participating in a state-funded wastewater sampling program to detect the presence of COVID-19 on the Dayton and Lake campuses. Sampling wastewater can help the university to catch the coronavirus early and prevent an outbreak of COVID-19 in the Wright State community. The sampling effort is focused on residential halls on both campuses. Numerous colleges around the United States are testing wastewater to detect the coronavirus on their campuses. For instance, wastewater sampling helped the University of Arizona prevent an outbreak in one dorm last fall when follow-up testing found two asymptomatic students.
