Dearest Online Learning,
When fate inflicted you upon me in March, it wasn’t exactly love at first sight.
At the beginning of our time together, social hackers Zoom-bombed my Discrete Time Models in Finance class, posed as fellow students, exuded obnoxious animal sounds, and wrote inappropriate comments that were so distracting that I decided to watch the lecture recordings moving forward.
I never would have imagined that one day I would feel this profoundly personal, affectionate, mushy sensation deep inside my mind when I think of you.

There were hundreds of thousands of peaceful protesters blanketing downtown D.C. while maybe a few dozen troublemakers engaged in trespassing and petty vandalism at the Capitol Building.

Last week, both the state and the city released new guidelines to help restaurants navigate the new indoor and outdoor dining restrictions. In addition to confusing the hell out of everyone after incorrectly declaring New Yorkers could no longer use a restaurant s bathroom, it was made clear that outdoor dining structures may only be considered outdoors if it has two sides which are open air. While some restaurants are reconfiguring their set-ups, others are. not so much.
Among the city s most elaborate structures is Il Violino, an Italian restaurant which has lived for just under 30 years at the corner of Columbus Avenue and 68th Street. They have really embraced the holidays with their outdoor structure, lining it with wreaths, giant nutcrackers, candy canes, bells, colored balls, a letter for Santa sculpture a Covid Christmas explosion. Between that and the occasional live music, it s gotten plenty of attention around the neighborhood as a result.
