Over 100 Public Libraries Exceed 1 Million Digital Book Checkouts in 2020
Toronto Public Library #1 worldwide for 8th straight year and Los Angeles Public Library retains top spot for US digital libraries

CLEVELAND, Jan. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ A record 102 public library systems from around the world empowered readers to borrow over 1 million ebooks and audiobooks from their digital collections in 2020. This represents the most systems ever to reach this milestone through OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform. Contributing factors include increased digital book usage due to the pandemic, elevated interest in social justice titles and BIPOC authors and strong circulation growth for children s and young adult titles because of remote learning.

The COVID-19 pandemic means a quieter holiday season in the Hamilton area but there are still ways to keep busy. Here are some things to do over the holiday break.
1. Go skating
There are several skating options in Hamilton and Burlington.
Four outdoor rinks are open with limited capacity, said Hamilton s Director of Recreation Chris Herstek. You ll need to register in advance online, and change rooms and washroom facilities will be closed. Face masks are strongly encouraged, the city says.

We are pleased to announce the newest addition to our local online resources, digital yearbooks! More specifically, the Hamiltonians, yearbooks from Hamilton Central School from the years 1950-1989, excluding for some unknown reason 1969!
These are available for free to anyone who wants to look at them. You can find them on the “Local History” tab on our website, or through New York Heritage’s website (NYHeritage.org) if you want to hunt a bit (and find other neat New York history gems).
This was a project that had been ongoing for some time, beginning a few years ago with previous assistant director Meghan Bremiller responding to an ad from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections who was reaching out to institutions to have their inmates digitize materials. We took them up on their offer, sent them a few boxes of yearbooks and they returned them, along with CDs filled with PDFs from every book - even the ad

This Mad Desire’s new album
American Dream has been described as containing “timeless songs designed for the times”.
