MORE than ten of the businesses in Bradford on Avon town centre have closed or are up for sale, it has been disclosed. Many of them are hospitality-led and giftware-based businesses which have been hit by the Covid-19 lockdowns and too much competition. The award-winning Bridge Tea Rooms in Bridge Street was up for sale but has since been taken off by its owners Roy and Alison Hayward who live in Bath. Mr Hayward said: “The market in Bradford on Avon is saturated. There are too many places to go for a cup of tea or coffee.” John Salvat, owner of Mr Salvat’s Coffee Room in nearby St Margaret’s Street, closed his business in March because of the Covid pandemic and has not reopened.
