Spate of arsons continues in Gainsborough as another car set on fire
The seventh report of arson in just two weeks
There have been at least six incidents of suspected arson in Gainsborough and nearby areas over the last fortnight.
A car was set on fire in Gainsborough over the weekend as the recent spate of arson in the area continues.
At around 3.56am on Saturday, May 1, a Ford Focus car was deliberately set on fire in Apley Close, making it the seventh case of arson in just over two weeks for the town.
This most recent case comes after Lincolnshire Police put on more patrols on the streets of Gainsborough to combat the level of fire-related crime, when six different arsons were reported over a fortnight.

A Lincolnshire driver who had never held a licence was jailed after Lincoln Crown Court heard how he drove at 110 mph in an attempt to evade police.
Tracy Hercules was driving in March this year a Mercedes Benz in the Spalding area when a police car approached with its blue flashing lights and siren on.
The police vehicle was on its way to an unrelated incident, but Hercules mistakenly believed that it was him that the officers were interested in and sped off.

A man who never held a driving licence fled from police he wrongly believed were after him in a 110mph car chase.
Tracy Hercules, 22, sped away when he saw a patrol car approach with its blue lights and siren on.
The officers, who had been heading to an unrelated call, gave chase, pursuing Hercules for 25 minutes until he crashed into a ditch.
Hercules, who admitted dangerous driving, was jailed for eight months at Lincoln Crown Court.
Edna Leonard, prosecuting, told the court the defendant had pulled out in front of the police car near Spalding, Lincolnshire, on 8 March.

A fundraiser to help a Lincoln mother whose baby daughter’s grave was vandalised with a hammer has raised over £2,000 in less than 48 hours.
Lyndsay Marshall had visited her daughter Kacey’s grave at Washingborough baby cemetery over the weekend, on what would have been her 17th birthday, when she saw the heartbreaking damage.
The headstone had been smashed by a hammer and ornaments were scattered around the grave.

A Lincoln mother is calling for more safety at a baby cemetery in a city village, after she was devastated to find her daughter’s grave vandalised with a hammer.
Lyndsay Marshall had gone to visit her daughter Kacey’s grave at Washingborough baby cemetery on what would’ve been her 17th birthday on Sunday.
When she got there she found the grave had been subject to vandalism, with the headstone smashed by a hammer and ornaments scattered everywhere.
A fundraiser was set up to support Lyndsay through this and to help repair it, and it soared over the £2,000 target in less than 48 hours.
