For the first time since January 2020, the fashion world is truly looking toward and gearing up for a post-COVID world.
At least that was the feeling at the recently wrapped Spring 2022 Men s Fashion Week shows. The Fall 2021 collections that were shown in January and are currently hitting retailers were still influenced by the pandemic, albeit in a more subtle way, with neck coverings replacing face coverings and athleisure staples, like leggings, reimagined through a fashion-forward lens. The palpable influence at the Spring 2022 collections was celebratory in nature: everyone was heading to the ocean for their shows and lookbooks, with brands showing on the London, Milan and Paris calendars alike making the trek to the coast. The Danish label had recently given audiences a taste of the anticipated collection in a set of teaser images taken from the fashion movie presented in Milan. Founder and creative director of Han Kjøbenhavn, Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen states its importance: “Becoming an established part of the Milan Fashion Week’s calendar, with its strong heritage and international recognition, is an important step in the journey of Han Kjøbenhavn.”
This season, the collection is titled “Sweet Melancholia” and is greatly inspired by Davidsen’s present mindset, “It’s the mental ’sweet spot’, where the darkness takes over and you feel enlightened Where the darkness feels progressive. It’s a creative potent place to be, a place created by the power of the uncontrollable.”

A New Awakening, the 6-minute Derek Tsang-directed feature follows characters on a journey of discovery and renewal, framed by the five senses. Capturing the spirit of Chinese New Year, the film expertly encapsulates the impending arrival of spring and the sense of new beginnings.
Arriving alongside the film is the Chinese New Year 2021 capsule collection that boasts a reworked Thomas Burberry Monogram motif honoring the Year of the Ox, a Chinese zodiac sign associated with the earth, power and calm.
