I have never smelled a smell like this.” “It was pretty well pulverized and smelled just god awful,” said Falkenstein, who turned off the air conditioning, put her face mask back on and headed to the nearest car wash. New Jersey State Police told NJ Advance Media the mess was from an accidental spill that occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 42 near milepost 13.4. The spill left a 200-foot trail of animal waste, troopers said. The incident was first reported by local blog NJPen.com.
