Now, as Honolulu eases operating restrictions on a range of businesses Thursday, fitness clubs like Yoga Room can, well, stretch out a bit. The change means indoor fitness classes can double in size, to nine students plus a teacher from four plus a teacher.

Chef Mavro thrills culinary students at Leeward CC | University of Hawaiʻi System News

Every semester, students of Leeward Community College’s Culinary Arts program participate in an event which brings a successful (sometimes world-renowned) chef to the campus for a unique learning experience. The “Culinary Assembly” held in partnership with the Hawaiʻi Culinary Education Foundation consists of a live cooking demonstration by a chef, followed by a question and answer portion and closes with the awarding of scholarships. Chef George “Mavro” Mavrothalassitis In February, James Beard award-winning chef George “Mavro” Mavrothalassitis thrilled students with his culinary techniques. Chef Mavro prepared Squab en Papillote with Savoy Cabbage and Foie Gras for students on Zoom.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Travel executives and business leaders say Hawaii needs a more unified travel program that streamlines the process for visitors. “The inconsistent travel rules are really having a dramatic impact on our businesses across the islands,” said Rob Robinson, Springboard Hospitality vice president. He and others say the current rules are confusing, which is slowing tourism and costing them money. Mufi Hannemann, Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association president and CEO, said some 4 in 10 businesses in Hawaii aren’t able to reopen fully until tourism returns in a “meaningful way.”
