Chandigarh: More than four lakh poultry birds died in a month in Haryana due to H5N8 virus, avian influenza, confirmed Haryana Minister JP Dalal on Friday.
While speaking to media, the Animal Husbandry & Dairying Fisheries Minister said that samples from different poultry farms were sent to Bhopal following the unusual death of more than four lakh chickens in a month.
Out of the total samples sent, two of them tested positive for H5N8 virus, a type of avian influenza, he added.

PANIPAT: In another shocking case of Honor Killing, a 23 year-old man was stabbed to death in Panipat Market, Haryana. The incident took place on Friday night, where the man was stabbed by his own brother-in-law.
The victim Neeraj, recently married a woman from a different caste. His wife Komal’s family was unhappy with the match. This resulted in Komal’s brother and one of the relatives to attack Neeraj in the Bhavna chowk market. The CCTV cameras recorded the entire incident. It can be seen that Neeraj was stabbed multiple times.

Rohtak: A couple who planned to marry were shot dead in broad daylight here on Wednesday in a suspected case of honour killing, police said.
The parents of the man, aged around 25, and the woman, who was nearly 27 years old, were to meet for working out some modalities for a court marriage. However, the woman s family did not turn up, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sajjan Singh said.

With more people joining their ongoing agitation in Haryana, the farmers ensured that no fee was collected from vehicles at toll plazas on national highways for the second day on Saturday. The farmers said they will make movement through toll plazas free on Sunday too.

A total of 1.85 lakh electorate are set to cast their votes for the much awaited Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections, being held after a gap of over two-and-a-half years, on Sunday. The voters, for the first time, will poll to directly elect their mayoral candidate in Panchkula– in contrast to the earlier procedure as per which the Mayor’s post was filled by one of the already elected councillors.
