(KSLA) - Triplets, Stevie, Steven, and Stephon Wilson, are set to graduate from Grambling State University the week of April 12, carrying on the tradition as fifth generation graduates from the university; their family has attended Grambling since the 1950s. All three grew up in Winnfield, La. Stevie Wilson, the firstborn, says he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at Grambling State University. He was a member of the Grambling State University World Famed Tiger Marching Band and was involved in several other organizations.

In a press release we received from Texas College, announced that they will honor Essence Magazine CEO and 2005 Alumna, Caroline A. Wanga, at their Spring 2021 Commencement Exercise, to be hosted virtually on Saturday, May 15. Wanga, who will also serve as the occasion’s speaker, will be bestowed the honorary degree Doctor of Humane Letters. Wanga s story is a fascinating climb up the corporate ladder that began right here in Tyler. After receiving her degree in Business Administration at Texas College in 2005, she began her corporate journey as a Distribution Center Intern for Target Corporation in Tyler, Wanga would climb the ranks within the company for the next 15 years where she would eventually serve as Target’

PITTSFIELD — While school leaders look toward hiring and budgeting, health officials will take up two issues that have been generating community concern. Last week, the School Committee finalized its interview schedule for four superintendent hopefuls, putting current Interim Superintendent Joe Curtis in the spotlight first. Curtis’ interview will kick off the 5 p.m. meeting on Monday, followed by Interim Bozrah, Conn., Superintendent Portia Bonner. Wayland Public Schools Superintendent Arthur Unobskey’s interview will start Tuesday s meeting at the same time, with the final interview of Marisa Mendonsa, principal of Mohawk Trail Regional High School, capping the evening s events.
