Brooke Yanez, Allee Bunker lead No. 3 Oregon softball in shutout of No. 2 UCLA Updated 9:06 PM; EUGENE Brooke Yanez was nearly untouchable and Allee Bunker was dialed in at the plate for Oregon softball against UCLA. Yanez struck out eight and allowed just two hits and Bunker went 3 for 3 with a two-run home run to lead the No. 3 Ducks to a 3-0 win over the No. 2 Bruins Friday afternoon at Jane Sanders Stadium. Other than feeling out the strike zone for the first few hitters, it was another stellar performance from Yanez (14-0, 1.12 ERA), who needed just 97 pitches to mow through the Bruins.

Ardmore High students win at statewide contest Submitted content Two Ardmore high school students won big at the statewide Lay Day Contest, sponsored by the Oklahoma Bar Association, for their 11th grade art entries.  Hannah Delgado won the grand prize and Jazmyn Ragle won first place in the 11th grade category. Delgado received a plaque and a $500 cash check from Oklahoma Bar Association President Mike Mordy in his downtown Ardmore law office. The winners were recognized by Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Darby during a virtual ceremony on April 6.  The theme for this year’s Law Day Contest was “Advancing the Rule of Law Now,” and about 1,300 students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade participated in the event.

Shortstop Alyssa Brito and left fielder Hanna Delgado, who both missed last weekend’s series at Oregon State, are still “unavailable” as of Wednesday, according to Ducks coach Melyssa Lombardi, who said their absence is not academically related. Lombardi said Oregon is “still working on,” whether the freshmen duo will be available for this weekend’s series, which begins Friday at 5 p.m.
