The Oregon Ducks played their first game under new head coach Graeme Abel, and it’s one the team will never forget. The Ducks outlasted the Gonzaga Bulldogs with the final score of 1-0. The game was fast and physical, but the Ducks used their in-game improvements to get the result.
The extended absence away from the pitch meant the Ducks understandably started sluggishly. Gonzaga came out flying, but Oregon did an impressive job of stopping the early onslaught. Redshirt Junior Hannah Taylor got the start at center back and was impressive early before a lower-body injury ended her day early. The Ducks didn’t let this unfortunate situation stop them as the first half got further underway, the team started gaining momentum. The usual suspects of Jordan Wormdahl and Zoe Hasaneur were able to have some impressive runs, but the Gonzaga backline limited their opportunities. The first half also marked the Oregon debut of Lexi Romero, a transfer from Air
