Update: Portsmouth Police say 16-year-old was killed in Churchland homicide

PORTSMOUTH, Va. The Portsmouth Police Department said officers were looking into a homicide on Tuesday afternoon.
By Wednesday morning, officials said the victim was a 16-year-old boy.
A news release from the department said they were investigating a scene in the Churchland area of the city, near the 4400 block of Hatton Point Road.
Police said they initially were investigating a non-fatal shooting, where an 18-year-old had been hurt. That investigation was called in at 2:41 a.m. and started near High Street.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. â Portsmouth detectives are investigating a homicide in the Churchland area near the 4400 block of Hatton Point.
Detectives provided an update on the investigation Wednesday.
They say they were investigating an incident where an 18-year-old male suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, near High Street around 2:41 a.m. on Tuesday
While investigating, a second victim was discovered near the 4400 block of Hatton Point, around 7:11 a.m. The victim was a 16-year-old male who had been fatally shot. Detectives say they have informed the teen s family.
When a News 3 photographer arrived on scene around 3:20 p.m., neighbors told us the scene had been cleaned up for hours.
