MELAKA: Melaka will revive its now defunct Road Safety Council (MKJR) after the state recorded a sharp increase in road fatalities between February and March this year.
State Public Works, Transport, Public Amenities and Infrastructure Committee chairman Datuk Roslan Ahmad told The Star that the function of MKJR was still vital to identify accident-prone areas and prevent deaths.
“I have proposed to the Melaka Road Transport Department my plans to revive MKJR.
“I have also put forward the proposal to relevant stakeholders in the state, ” he said in an interview yesterday.
“Motorcyclists contributed to the highest casualty rates in the state and we have to encourage riders to think of their safety.”
