Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Hugh McDowell said a combination of a low-pressure system near Tasmania, together with an onshore flow from a high-pressure system over the Tasman Sea and an inland trough, would result in rainy conditions for Sydney for the next week.
Since 9am on Friday, Katoomba recorded 25 millimetres of rain, while Gosford recorded 14.4mm. Closer to Sydney, Terrey Hills had 17.6mm, Parramatta got 7mm and Sydney Observatory Hill had 7.8mm.
