The Big Takeover: The Reducers - Live: New York City 2005 (Rave On Records)

Hugh Birdsall  The Reducers were the neutron star of post-punk. A band who attracted legions of fans and lit a fuse of influence, embracing a cult following rather than commercial success. The four-piece blistered energetically for three decades until the tragic loss of bassist Steve Kaika in 2012. Though through it all, they remained constantly committed to the backlash to become the “Next Big Thing!” Nevertheless, the legend of The Reducers will vibrate for eternity, and the honest garage rock they created and stylishly executed will remain a vital part of music long after we have all left this plane of existence.

Chester steps up Cancelled live SSK&P concert goes virtual at Meeting House with Meadows Brothers

CHESTER — When COVID peremptorily canceled the annual Black Friday live concert to benefit the Shoreline Soup Kitchen & Pantries at The Kate, the town of Chester valiantly stepped in to offer their meeting house as a venue for a virtual performance. Then everything clicked back into place in support of the SSK&P, which offers food and fellowship to people in need in 11 towns, from Madison to East Lyme to Chester. The Meadows Brothers, the Chester-born-and-bred rising stars of Americana and roots music, once again agreed to join their majestic vocal harmonies with the Ebin-Rose Trio, Moving Target, Hugh Birdsall, Lauren Agnelli & Friends, and Carter Gowrie & Friends.
