Black voter alliance hosts forum, candidates running for Topeka mayor

Affordable housing, police accountability and economic development on Topeka s east side were among a number of topics the city s five mayoral candidates discussed Tuesday in a forum hosted by the local African-American Women s Voter Alliance. A coalition of advocacy groups have filed suit in opposition to two laws approved by the legislature last month, arguing they violate the Kansas Constitution by making it harder for residents to vote and infringing on their free speech rights.
