Building materials are running short in the UK, leaving DIY projects in doubt and building companies under pressure.
The Construction Leadership Council has warned that cement, some electrical components, timber, steel and paints are all in short supply.
It blamed unprecedented levels of demand that are set to continue.
The Federation of Master Builders said that some building firms may have to delay projects and others could be forced to close as a result. Small, local builders are being hit hardest by material shortages and price rises, said chief executive Brian Berry.
Furniture components manufacturer and distributor Hill’s Panel Products (HPP) has appointed Gary Kinder as purchasing manager.
The 53-year-old has extensive fitted furniture industry experience in Greater Manchester and across the north, and his CV includes roles with Eurospace Furniture, Symphony, Richmond Cabinets and JT Ellis.
HPP, based in Oldham and with a second UK distribution centre in Sheffield, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
It serves the national kitchen and bedroom fitting industry.
It has over 2,000 trade customers across the UK and supplies over 6,000 products including its own brands of doors and cabinet components.
The company is headed by brothers Martin and Stephen Hill and Managing Director Keith Wardrope.
