A Minnesota woman was killed and three other people were injured Saturday morning just after an Independence Day parade in Slater, according to the Iowa State Patrol. A vehicle struck the pedestrians at around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Main and Tama streets, Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Alex Dinkla said Saturday.
A 2007 Hyundai Sonata was parked on Main Street after the parade when pedestrians were in the road, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, when a 75-year-old woman backed out and struck multiple people, according to the report.
Multiple people were struck, according to the crash report, and four were dragged under the vehicle. Mary Nienow, 59, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, was killed.

C&R Market is moving to the location where Slater General Store was located at 212 Main Street. C&R Market currently is open and located at 133 East Maple Street. Slater General Store closed earlier this year after nearly 20 years of serving Slater and area residents.
