Foreign envoys from diff countries arrive to assess ground situation
Srinagar, Feb 17 (UNI) Foreign envoys from 17 different countries arrived here on Wednesday on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to assess the overall ground situation in the Union Territory (UT).
This is the third visit of envoys from foreign countries since August 5, 2019, when the Centre abrogated Article 370 and 35A besides divided the erstwhile state into two Union Territories (UTs) besides detained almost all mainstream leaders, including three former Chief Ministers Dr Farooq Abdullah , Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.
However, this is the first visit of the foreign envoys after 4G internet service was restored in Jammu and Kashmir since August 15, 2019 and successful election of District Development Commission (DDC) chairmen.

Srinagar, other parts of Kashmir receive fresh snowfall
Srinagar, Feb 3 (UNI) The summer capital, Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley received fresh snowfall on Wednesday even as the night temperature witnessed major improvement and settled above normal.
However, the maximum temperature settled several degrees below normal due to snowfall, coupled with icy cold winds in the valley, where light to moderate snow is predicted during the next 24 hours.
A Met department spokesperson told UNI a fresh Western Disturbance (WD), which originated from the Arabian Sea and approached the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan, is active in the region. “Under the influence of this WD, light to moderate snow would occur at most places in the valley during the next 24 hours,” he said, adding the weather is expected to improve from Friday onwards.
