Over 6,000 migrant Workers from Kuwait repatriated Daily News (via HT Media Ltd.)
The Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait continues to facilitate repatriation of Sri Lankan migrant workers and other Sri Lankans who were severely affected by COVID 19 pandemic under the guidance of Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Foreign Secretary Admiral Professor Jayanath Colombage.
The Embassy has repatriated over 6,000 Sri Lankans out of 9,000 persons registered with the Embassy.
The repatriation is facilitated by the Embassy in coordination with the Presidential Secretariat, the Foreign Ministry, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak, Labour Ministry, Foreign Employment Promotion and Market Diversification State Ministry, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), SriLankan Airlines and relevant Kuwait authorities.

Colombo (News 1st); There is a network that abuses Visit Visa’s to send Sri Lankan women as domestic aides overseas, especially to the Middle East, revealed the Association of Licensed Foreign Employment Agencies in Sri Lanka on Sunday (25).
The association said unlicensed agencies are engaged in Human Trafficking, using Visit visas.
“If a person is to fly overseas to serve as a domestic aide, he or she must meet certain criteria,” said Mohamed Farook Mohamed Arshad, the Secretary of the Association of Licensed Foreign Employment Agencies.
