COLOMBO: Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka signed on Tuesday a new agreement on the employment of workers, opening up more opportunities in the Kingdom for professionals from the crisis-hit island nation. The Skill Verification Program aims to improve the professional competence of employees in the Saudi labor market, easing the recruitment process of skilled workers from Sri Lanka.

Colombo (News 1st); There is a network that abuses Visit Visa’s to send Sri Lankan women as domestic aides overseas, especially to the Middle East, revealed the Association of Licensed Foreign Employment Agencies in Sri Lanka on Sunday (25).
The association said unlicensed agencies are engaged in Human Trafficking, using Visit visas.
“If a person is to fly overseas to serve as a domestic aide, he or she must meet certain criteria,” said Mohamed Farook Mohamed Arshad, the Secretary of the Association of Licensed Foreign Employment Agencies.
