Businesses hopeful for more revenue from Thursdays Downtown

Created: July 07, 2021 10:49 PM (ABC 6 News) - One of Rochester s biggest summer events, Thursdays Downtown, is coming back in-person. Thousands of people will be able to gather and enjoy local music, art, and the food the city has to offer. Business owners are hoping this will give them much needed revenue after a difficult year from the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic. Bag after bag of popcorn, staff at Carroll s Corn are filling as much as they can. They ll need to come Thursday to serve the thousands of people set to gather in town.  But owner Seamus Kolb said that s the fun no matter how busy it gets.

Now, seven months later, he s getting back to work. While the owner, Zach Ohly, was taking an unplanned break from the restaurant, he started a new project. They recently opened Cafe Relish located inside the Rochester Athletic Club. No, you do not need to be a member of the RAC to go to the cafe. Ohly said this project first started before the pandemic even hit. Between reopening one business, opening a brand new one and bringing a second baby into the world, his future is looking bright. We are always busy and I think we like that because for the past year, it was a lot of uncertaint
