CLINTON A Sampson County man was arrested Monday in the presumed death of a missing farm laborer, according to a news release from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office.
James Eric House, 35, of U.S. 421 North in Clinton, is charged with murder in the disappearance of David “Van” Alphin.
Alphin, 35, was last seen around 9 a.m. Feb. 2 at a hog farm where he worked on Elwood Road in Clinton, according to the release.
During the course of the missing person investigation, “enough substantial evidence has been uncovered to obtain criminal warrants” against House, the release said.
“At this time, to protect the integrity of the on-going investigation we are unable to release any specifics as to what evidence has been located. We do pray the arrest begins to bring some closure to the Alphin family,” Lt. Marcus Smith said in the release.
