A man accused of strangling a woman unconscious at a local hotel made his initial appearance on charges in 1st District Court on Friday.
Kyle R. Lowden, 34, has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a controlled substance and an additional misdemeanor for incidents alleged to have happened on Wednesday.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Lowden âput his hands on (the alleged victimâs) neck on multiple occasionsâ applying varying degrees of pressure during an argument at the hotel. At one point, police wrote Lowden strangled the woman and restricted her breathing.
âShe could only mouth words to Kyle, but was able to get him to let go,â police wrote.

Wyatt Dean Martin, 24, made his initial appearance on Friday for a single count of second-degree mayhem alleged to have happened on Tuesday.
An affidavit filed with the court states Martin approached the alleged victim lying on a bunk and struck the inmate in the head.
âThere was an exchange of words,â Cache County Sheriffâs deputies wrote, âthen Wyatt punched the victim in the side of the head, the punch caused the ear lobe to be split.â

A man who authorities say held a woman captive in Garden City during an assault that rendered her unconscious was arraigned in 1st District Court on Thursday.
John Joseph Sharkey, 43, has been charged with first-degree aggravated kidnapping, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree aggravated sexual extortion of an adult, third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree escape from official custody and four additional misdemeanors.
During Sharkeyâs appearance, prosecutors argued for him to be held without bail, citing the facts of the case and âextreme riskâ posed to the community if he were to be released. Prosecutors relayed to the court that Sharkey had recently served 10 years in a Colorado prison for assault with a deadly weapon.
