An investigation into the death of a Rich County inmate in April concluded the man died of natural causes, officials told The Herald Journal on Wednesday.
A man is dead after being held less than 24 hours in the Rich County Jail.
Rich County Sheriff Dale Stacey said the man had turned himself in to the jail to serve a sentence on a year-old DUI case on Tuesday. Around 7:30 a.m the following morning, the man was transported nearly 30 miles to a hospital in Evanston, Wyoming, where he was pronounced dead.
âI have been sheriff for a little over 22 years â Iâve been with the Sheriffâs Office for almost 29,â Stacey said, âand this is the first death in our jail that Iâm aware of.â

A man who authorities say held a woman captive in Garden City during an assault that rendered her unconscious was arraigned in 1st District Court on Thursday.
John Joseph Sharkey, 43, has been charged with first-degree aggravated kidnapping, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree aggravated sexual extortion of an adult, third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree escape from official custody and four additional misdemeanors.
During Sharkeyâs appearance, prosecutors argued for him to be held without bail, citing the facts of the case and âextreme riskâ posed to the community if he were to be released. Prosecutors relayed to the court that Sharkey had recently served 10 years in a Colorado prison for assault with a deadly weapon.
