IONE â The Ione School District is inviting district staff and the community to meet the four candidates for the districtâs superintendent position, according to a press release.
The district will host a Meet the Candidates event on Thursday, March 18, at 5 p.m. in the Ione High School gymnasium, 445 Spring St., Ione. The candidates â Kevin Dinning, Daniel Koopman, Tracey Johnson and Spencer Byrd â will be on hand to speak briefly to the entire audience, and then be available to meet and answer questions with small groups. Mask wearing and social distancing will be enforced during the event.
Dinning is a middle school principal in Idaho, while Koopman currently is an instructional dean at Southwestern Oregon Community College. Johnson is the elementary principal at Ione Community Schools and Byrd is a superintendent in Illinois.

BUENA VISTA, Va. Below freezing temperatures couldn t cool the Southern Virginia men s soccer team on Saturday night as the team picked up its first win of the season, beating Virginia Wesleyan by a score of 3-2.
The Marlins (0-1) struck first with a goal in the ninth minute, but the Knights (1-2) responded in the 12th minute when midfielder Landon Shelton found the back of the net off of an assist from Jackson Gorringe.
Virginia Wesleyan took back the advantage in the 35th minute, but the Knights answered again when Ammon Lewis scored an unassisted goal in the 40th minute. The teams went into the halftime break tied at two apiece.
