COOPERSVILLE, Mich. â A Coopersville bicycle rider is hospitalized after being struck by a car at midday Sunday.
At 12:12 p.m. Sunday, the Ottawa County Sheriff s Office, Coopersville/Polkton Fire-Rescue and Life Ambulance responded to a report of a car vs. bicyclist crash at West Randall Street and Mason Drive in Coopersville. The investigation showed that a 47-year-old man from Coopersville was riding a bike westbound on West Randall when a 74-year-old woman from Coopersville turned west onto West Randall from Mason, began accelerating, did not see the bike rider and hit the bicycle from behind.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI Spectrum Health is starting an antibody “infusion” clinic at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital to treat people with coronavirus who may be more susceptible to becoming severely ill.
The clinic will begin Feb. 10 and uses monoclonal antibodies to treat COVID-19 under a U.S. Food and Drug Administration emergency authorization.
The treatment involves drugs from Eli Lilly’s Bamlanivimab and Regeneron’s Casirivimab and Imdevimab combination.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is celebrating 10 years at its landmark blue building on Michigan Street along Grand Rapids’ Medical Mile.
The 14-story, $286 million building, which has 234-beds and provides treatment to infants, children and adolescents from Michigan and beyond, opened on Jan. 11, 2011.
“Those who saw the need years ago for specialized care for our youngest patients were true visionaries,” Tina Freese Decker, Spectrum’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “Without them, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital would not be the vital community resource it is today.”

GRAND RAPIDS, MI Two Grand Rapids hospitals, Mercy Health Saint Mary’s and Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, announced their first babies of the new year born early Friday.
The first child born at Saint Mary’s in 2021 was Henry Normandin, who came into the world at 12:32 a.m.
“Congratulations to parents, Brooke and Thom Normandin, and all the families at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s and Mercy Health Muskegon birthing centers that will be safely welcoming a little blessing into the New Year,” the hospital said in a Facebook post. “We wish all of our patients the best as we begin this new year full of hope for what is to come.”
