Bronson Methodist Hospital to start vaccinating employees Thursday afternoon

KALAMAZOO, Mich. â Another health system in West Michigan is set to start administering doses of Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine to employees.
Bronson Methodist Hospital tells FOX 17 that it will begin vaccinating staff members Thursday afternoon.
The health group received 1,950 doses from Pfizer this week.
Ascension Health Group also plans to begin vaccinations Thursday for employees at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Many people have gone months without seeing aging or other vulnerable parents, grandparents and close friends due to fears they will unintentionally pass along the deadly COVID-19 virus.
Arrival of vaccines prompts the question: Will it be safe to visit aging grandparents, parents or those with underlying health issues once they’ve been vaccinated for the coronavirus? Over the next few weeks, Oakland County public health nurses are planning to administer upwards of 1,800 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to first responders.Â
The county has not received its initial allocation. Tuesday morning, Pfizer representatives informed the county to expect its initial shipment of 1,950 doses either late this week or early next week. The health division expects to receive its second round of doses sometime after the first of the year. The Pfizer vaccine is being manufactured in and shipped across the country to hospitals and local health departments from the company s manufacturing plant in Portage, Mich.Â
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted the Pfizer vaccine emergency use authorization (EUA) last Friday with Michigan hospitals including Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor and Beaumont Health in Southfield administering the state s first doses on Monday and Tuesday to groups of frontline health workers.

(FOX 2) - A new report from the MichiganRestaurant and Lodging Association shows just how dire the outlook is for the hospitality industry in the state amid COVID-19.
Through a survey, MRLA found that nearly 6,000 restaurants - or a third of Michigan restaurants - are likely to close permanently in six months if they do not receive any financial assistance from the government.
The research also reveals the same future is in the cards for about 850 hotels. That accounts for two-thirds of all hotels in the state.
