Spain â Government approves extension of temporary lay-off schemes (20 minutos)

The Spanish Confederation of Organisationsâ Executive Committee has unanimously approved the extension of the governmentâs temporary employment regulation files (ERTE) until 31 May 2021, reports
20 minutos. The schemes were implemented to prevent mass layoffs and protect household income. The extended temporary lay-off schemes will maintain similar terms to the current regulation, which are in force until 31 January, however there are some improvements in the extension to help cope with the third wave of the pandemic. Government data showed that there were more than 700,000 workers in ERTE.
