STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, NYC Parks will celebrate the cultural impact and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).
“We are fortunate to live in such a rich and culturally diverse city, and it is made better through the contributions, influence and shared experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Julia Gargano is making good on her promise.
A year ago, as a parade of fans and family drove down the Westerleigh resident’s street to show their love for the “American Idol” contestant, Gargano told the Advance/SILive.com that she would love to put on a “hometown show” for all those who supported her once coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions were lifted.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Spring is in full swing in the region, a formidable time for foodies who love their local produce. Enter the Greenmarket at the Staten Island Mall, which returns this Saturday, May 8 for the 2021 season.
Rain or shine, growers from the region will station themselves at Marsh Avenue and Ring Road each Saturday through mid-December. Fresh-caught seafood, local honey, young spring veggies, artisan baked goods and cheeses are some of the products typically available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
