New project for Goodna cop who was left to die

Premium Content Subscriber only AN IPSWICH police officer who nearly lost his life when teenage thugs ran him down in a stolen car has started working on a new project set to add some colour to his workplace. Nearly a year after returning to work, Goodna Police’s Senior Constable Pete McAulay is creating a community garden outside the police station. The garden, which comprises three large planters, will feature flowers, herbs and vegies. A Goodna Police spokesman said the idea for a community garden came about two or three months ago.

Premium Content Subscriber only A MAN busted during a midnight meeting of car hoons has appeared in court over a sneaky punch into the face of a police officer. Magistrate Dennis Kinsella on Tuesday said he wanted time to think about the penalty to impose on Thomas Derek John Higgs, 23, who pleaded guilty to serious assault of a police officer at Ipswich Magistrates Court.. He ordered that Higgs be taken into the custody of the watchhouse until the afternoon.  The court heard the assault occurred at Swanbank at 1am on February 23 last year. Prosecutor Senior Constable Bridie O Shea said police were called to Rob Roy Way at 1am where 80 to 100 vehicles were gathered.

This is what Hervey Bay Magistrates Court heard as the committal hearing for Jason Cooper, the man accused of killing his partner and disposing of her body, began on Monday.     Staff and neighbours at the former Torquay Esplanade unit block The Hub described an overpowering off meat smell coming from the unit Ms Francis had shared with Mr Cooper and what they alleged looked like blood and faeces on a mattress and carpet in the bedroom.

Mum s vote trouble after police drug sting on barber son

Crime by Kay Dibben Premium Content   The mother of a barber shop owner who is charged with cocaine trafficking has been convicted and fined $750 for voting on behalf of her son at last year s State election. Koula Langanis, the mother of insta-famous barber Michael Langanis, was arrested as a result of conversations with her son, intercepted by police in an operation targeting drug trafficking. Mrs Langanis pleaded guilty in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday to a charge of voting at an election more than once and voting in the name of son Michael Anthony Langanis, between October 1 and November 1, last year.
