Stone Parish Council donates thousands of pounds to help struggling families

Thousands of pounds has been pledged by a parish council to help children and struggling families with the cost of food and online education.
Stone Parish Council has awarded £3,500 to local organisations assisting those hit hardest during the pandemic.
YMCA volunteers put together food parcels for those in need
It awarded £500 to the YMCA of Thames Gateway, based in Overy Street in Dartford, which supports more than 250 families who use their nurseries and after-school clubs as well as other vulnerable members of the community.
Over Christmas, hampers were delivered to vulnerable families across the Dartford area and this funding will help them to continue delivering essential items.

Construction is underway to build a new £29m secondary school in Dartford.
Stone Lodge School is set to move into its brand new premises in the Stone Valley area in February next year.

Stone Lodge Secondary School will include new sports pitches.
New facilities will include specialist science and engineering classrooms and a separate sports block and outside pitches.
The school is currently operating from temporary premises and remains open to vulnerable students and children of key workers. Only Years 7 and 8 are currently housed at the school.
