The town of Stoneham recently began the revitalization of the Clara Steele playground into a state-of-the-art play area for the community.
Located behind Stoneham Town Hall, and known as Munchkin Park by many in the Stoneham community, Steele Playground was selected for a much needed facelift as result of the Stoneham’s 2018 Open Space and Recreation Plan.
The revitalization project will provide residents with a new, ADA-compliant playground which will showcase multiple climbing structures, companion swings, rotating rope climbers and several sensory components.
This playground project was made possible after the town was awarded a Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Community grant in the amount of $100,000 from the Massachusetts Division of Conservation Services. The Stoneham Capital Committee also allocated funding towards the betterment of the playground.
