Del. Sam Rasoul’s campaign for lieutenant governor has assisted more than 1,000 Virginians through the Democratic Promise program in 2021.
Rasoul’s campaign staff and volunteers reach out over text and phone calls to ask whether Virginians on the other end need assistance with government services such as unemployment benefits, the DMV, housing assistance, or other social services. If respondents ask for help, they are connected to staff who assist with their case.
In February last year just before the coronavirus pandemic hit, TV personality, Caroline Flack tragically died. This then sparked a movement on social media with thousands of users using the hashtag #BeKind in the hopes of raising awareness around the reality of online abuse. Stacey Hayes and Kath Hickey who run the domestic and commercial cleaning company, The Dust Dollies, decided to give something back to the local community after feeling inspired by the online movement.
